The Summer Hikaru Died Episode 8 Recap
The Summer Hikaru Died episode 8 begins with Yoshiki trying to clean the blood stains from Hikaru’s shirt after trying to kill the latter in episode 7. He shows Hikaru the note from the original Hikaru about Nonuki-sama. They take the note to Yoshiki’s grandfather, who asked about the whereabouts of Hichi-san.
At school, Yoshiki realizes that Asako has lost some hearing in her right ear after her encounter with Hikaru. Hikaru admits to Yoshiki that Asako had actually been spared, and normally, people break due to way less. Soon after, a random human approaches the school building and kills himself in the school grounds. More and more bizarre events keep happening everywhere.
Both Hikaru and Yoshiki try to find the history behind Kubitachi at a local library. The librarian turns out to be Mrs. Matsuura’s daughter, the old woman who had died recently. She explains that Nonuki-sama is like a God, who offers wishes in exchange for offerings. However, a famine had wiped out a lot of the area after which it was seen as a curse. She also reveals that Matsuura’s younger daughter had also disappeared on the mountain.

Yoshiki then crosses paths with Tanaka, who recognizes Yoshiki as ‘mixed’ and infers from his scar that the creature that has descended has already taken the disguise of a human. Afterwards a scene shows Hikaru and Yoshiki at a diner where they are haunted by a ghost. Yoshiki tries to absorb it, but fails because he lacks half of his powers. Both of them try to escape, only to find the diner locked. However, Kurebayashi appeared right on time to save them.
