There is no shame in admitting that fans were a bit too harsh towards Elden Ring Nightreign when it first came out, as, after all, expectations were sky-high. But even after everything has settled down, there is this one boss that players are never going to forgive FromSoftware for making it too boring.
Augur, one of the Nightlords that players can battle in the game, has been a controversial boss for many players, simply because defeating him has started to feel more like a chore than a challenge. What does not help its case is how the upcoming Elden Ring Nightreign update introduces an Everdark Sovereign version of the boss, which many players are not really enthusiastic about.

On paper, the Everdark Sovereign Augur should have been a showstopper. Its visual design is as ominous as it comes, but that is where the praise ends. The base version of Augur was able to impress only a few, and that is what I believe will be the case with its Everdark Sovereign version.

For those unfamiliar, FromSoftware introduces Everdark Sovereign versions of various bosses, referring to upgraded and even harder versions of Nightlords that present a greater challenge than before.

Unfortunately, when you multiply something by a low number, the product will always be underwhelming as well, and that will be the case with Augur, or so many players assume about the upcoming update for the game, as seen in the game’s subreddit.

While the chances of getting a whole rework for Augur are really slim, FromSoftware can essentially bring just a few changes around to make the Nightlord a bit better than before. It also won’t be before experiencing the Everdark Sovereign version of the boss for ourselves that we can say anything for guaranteed about the gameplay.
We Have to Wait Just a Bit Longer Before the Next Elden Ring Nightreign Update

To the bosses’ credit, Augur’s backstory is not that bad, and there are a few players out there who seem to genuinely enjoy the fight and would possibly love the upcoming Everdark Sovereign version of the boss. Unfortunately, we will have to wait just a bit more before that happens.

The next Nightreign update, which was supposed to come out originally on July 30th, has now been delayed to July 31st, 5:00 PM JST due to an unfortunate Tsunami warning that came after an 8.7 earthquake near Russia.
Our best wishes are with those who are affected, and for players of Elden Ring Nightreign, it’s just a bit more waiting before they can decide for themselves if the Everdark Sovereign version of Augur finally fixes its flaws, or just amplifies them further.
