How Many Episode Will Akira Toriyama’s Sand Land Have? Dragon Ball Creator Revealed His Actual Contribution to the Show Before His Untimely Death

Akira Toriyama’s untimely death has left the entire world grief-stricken. It was too early for such a legendary figure to leave everyone behind. He gifted the fans one of the greatest pieces of fiction, the Dragon Ball franchise. Son Goku and Vegeta established themselves as the most electrifying figures in the world of anime through Akira Toriyama’s magic hands.

Apart from the Dragon Ball franchise, the legendary mangaka has several other notable works. One of them is Sand Land, which got a movie adaptation in 2023. The anime adaptation of Toriyama’s magnum opus was released on March 20, 2024. But the thing that has caught the attention of the fans is the last interview of Toriyama on Sand Land.

Sand Land was created by Akira Toriyama in the early 2000s. It is set in a completely different premise than his $23 Billion franchise’s plot, and is effectively a combination of Dune and Mad Max. The series is set on a deserted planet covered with sand and ferocious wild beasts. Even amidst such problematic terrain and natural obstacles, Demon Prince Beelzebub, Sheriff Rao, and Thief set out in search of a Legendary Lake to solve the water shortage problem.

“The outline I received was full of dramatic content and fast-paced developments from the start. I came up with the background information and design for a new character, Muniel, designed other characters like Ann, and also suggested various episodes and whatnot. And so this sequel was completed.”
