Fans of the series know that the narrative is currently in its final phase, and it won’t be long before the Vinland Saga manga releases its final chapter. The series has had a long run, and Yukimura plans to end it so that he can focus on other projects and publish new works. However, this ending might not come as easy as fans think.

This was revealed by the manga creator himself, who recently explained how he still has to come up with the storyline for the ending of Vinland Saga. While it may be a difficult task, Yukimura believes that he might bring a conclusion that no one has expected in the past 20 years of Vinland Saga.

Makoto Yukimura Has Not Planned Vinland Saga’s Ending

In an interview with Anime Corner last month, Yukimura was asked about the series and his plans for the upcoming storyline. He was also asked to talk about the conclusion of the series and his response came as a shock to many fans. Yukimura admitted to the fact that although Vinland Saga is certainly reaching its end, the manga creator has not yet written it.

Yukimura stated:

As of now, October [18] 2024, I only have a few more chapters to write for the story of Vinland Saga. I came this far just the way I planned, but honestly from this point and beyond I have no idea what’s going to happen. Honestly, I don’t know how this is going to pan out at the end. I’m going to do my best, though.

Yukimura confessed to the fact that he is quite satisfied with how the series worked according to how he planned in the beginning, but he has reached a point where he does not how to write the ending.

The Vinland Saga creator revealed although he has no idea what he is going to do, he is confident that he will put in his best effort and make sure that the ending is deserved and lives up to the expectations of the fans of the series.

Makoto Yukimura’s Message Through Vinland Saga

While talking about Vinland Saga, Makoto Yukimura was asked about the lesson that he wanted to give through his magnum opus. The manga creator pointed out that he wanted to explain the impact of war on society and how it disrupts peace all over the world.

Yukimura stated:

I hope so. One time, 20 years ago, someone told me we should think about war when there is no war. Because it is already too late by the time war is happening to think about it. I hope people will think about war now, and then hope for peace. If that message has been conveyed to as many people in the world [as possible], that would make me really happy.

Yukimura explained that he was once told that thinking about war before it happens helps in avoid it. Which is why he created Vinland Saga in the first place. If people understood this, he would be quite happy.
