Bleach Is Finally Reaching the End After 22 Years

That wait finally ended in 2022 when Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War premiered. The return was more than just another anime sequel. It gave Tite Kubo‘s final arc a chance to be animated with better pacing, new scenes, and much bigger action.
That difference is important because the Thousand-Year Blood War is where Bleach becomes completely chaotic in the best possible way. Ichigo Kurosaki‘s true heritage is revealed, the Quincy war reaches its peak, and Yhwach becomes a threat unlike anything Ichigo has faced before.
The final cour, Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity, premiered on July 25, 2026. New episodes are airing weekly, with Hulu carrying the series in the US and Disney+ handling international streaming in many regions.
The power levels also go far beyond the early days of the series. Bankai, Quincy abilities, Hollow powers, and Schrift abilities — all of those came together. That is exactly why the current ending feels bigger than a normal anime finale. It is the final piece of a story that began with Ichigo becoming a Substitute Soul Reaper in Episode 1.
The Calamity Is Taking Bleach‘s Final Battle to Its Peak
The story of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity is now deep into the final battle against Yhwach. After taking the Soul King’s power, Yhwach has become an almost impossible enemy to stop. His Almighty ability makes the fight even more dangerous because he can see and alter possible futures.
Recent episodes have pushed several major characters into their biggest fights. Ichigo is once again at the center of the conflict. Episode 45, “DEFEND YOU,” also brought Ichigo’s Hollow powers back into the final fight as he used his combined abilities against Yhwach. Orihime also gets a much stronger role in the episode as she tries to protect Ichigo from Yhwach’s attacks.
Meanwhile, in the recent Episode 46, “THE END,” the story has moved even closer to its final resolution, covering the devastating fallout of Yhwach using The Almighty to shatter Ichigo’s Bankai. Only four episodes remain after Episode 46, as per the official Blu-ray listing (via the official website). And based on that, the finale is currently expected to be released on September 26, 2026. That makes this final month especially important for longtime fans.
Bleach is not simply finishing another arc. It is closing the anime journey that helped define the Big Three era alongside One Piece and Naruto. For fans who watched Ichigo’s first fight at the beginning, seeing the story reach its final episode after all these years will be a very different experience.
