If you’ve been following Jujutsu Kaisen, you’d know how naughty the character of Gojo Satoru can get with his words. The strongest sorcerer is a tease in many ways and loves to torment most of the characters in the show, particularly Utahime, although we’d love to see more of her.
The English voice actor for Gojo Satoru, Kaiji Tang, also voices Jinshi from The Apothecary Diaries. Jinshi often teases the protagonist, Maomao, to get a reaction out of her. In Episode 4, Jinshi says something that would make anybody blush. It reminds you of Utahime and Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen, but maybe more explicit.

Gojo Satoru has successfully become one of the most popular and recognised anime characters in recent times. Jujutsu Kaisen is a huge hit with anime fans, old and new. He’s also somehow made it to the non-anime viewer population. While there’s a huge debate between sub or dub, Kaiji Tang’s voice acting is undeniably smooth and worth switching to dub sometimes. So what did the voice actor say as Jinshi in this controversial anime, The Apothecary Diaries?

Jinshi says, “If it helps, I could come inside?” to which Maomao and others get embarrassed and shy. It’s important to note that Jinshi says this in the Japanese dub without double meaning. Just a simple, “Let’s go inside, for now,” after the other women get jealous of seeing Maomao with him. However, Kaiji Tang took a completely new angle and decided to make everyone blush.

Unless you live under a rock, you’d know that Gojo Satoru is a similar kind of tease. The sorcerer teases people without a second thought and one of his victims is Utahime. Her short temper makes her an easy target for Gojo’s sharp tongue. When stuck under rubble, Gojo asks, “You cryin’?” with that smooth voiceover from Kaiji Tang. This scene went viral, even for non-anime watchers.

Kaiji Tang doesn’t stop there with characters who are known menaces. The voice actor also provides the dub for Bungo Stray Dogs’ Osamu Dazai, another iconic and recognisable character. Is it a pattern that Tang is grabbing roles of handsome and annoyingly charming male lead characters? It’s an incredible talent to get anime fans to even like an English dub and Kaiji Tang is making a mark in the industry.
Why Fans See a Connection Between Jinshi and Gojo

There’s a simple connection between Jinshi and Gojo: Tang’s charming voice acting. Kaiji Tang brings a new life to the characters who are multi-faceted and complex. Due to their good looks, they are often mischaracterized, but Tang makes sure to remind people that these characters are more than what meets the eye.
All of the Gojo edits that are going to use this are gonna go crazy— • f r o g • (@porcelain_frog) September 5, 2024
While Gojo might be the strongest sorcerer, Jinshi can control social situations with his wit and powerful words. Gojo can be carefree in his actions and most of the time has a huge ego, but the sorcerer has been scarred beyond our comprehension. Tang can seamlessly switch between playful to serious with any character he brings to life.
Of course, we’re here to talk about that scene in particular. This playful speech is what fans are picking up on, and it’s not hard to see why Jinshi’s innuendo-laden scene triggered flashbacks of Gojo teasing Utahime.
