Marvel Rivals has been a smashing success for both Marvel and NetEase Games. The PVP shooter rapidly developed a loyal fandom, which Marvel Comics has reached out to with special comics. The latest of these is a one-shot special, Marvel Rivals: Ignite, which highlights new costume designs by Ultimate X-Men artist Peach Momoko.

Three covers for Marvel Rivals: Ignite #1 may be viewed below.

All Japanese creative team for Marvel Rivals: Ignite

In keeping with the anime-inspired aesthetic of the game, Marvel Rivals: Ignite features an all-star team of top manga creators. The special opens up with a story by Peach Momoko, pitting the hero Sai against the symbiotic chaos of Venom. Next, comic creator Yuji Kaku tells a tale that puts The Punisher into conflict with Peni Parker. Finally, Mitsuyasu Sakai and artist Ryusei Yamada join forces to spin a story in which K-Pop star Luna Snow faces off with Hela.

The stories will each be rendered in monochrome, as is the standard for most manga. However, each chapter will also feature a third color that thematically ties into the story. This will further enhance the art in each story.

Marvel Rivals: Ignite #1 is slatted to be the first of many one-shots. Previously, Marvel Comics reached out to gamers with an on-line exclusive Marvel Infinity miniseries. This proved popular enough to be printed as a regular comic. However, the digital edition offered subscribers a special Jeff the Land Shark “Unlimited Appetite” spray.

The new one-shot does not contain any exclusive perks. However, it will still offer fans of the game a more in-depth look at some of the characters and underpinnings of the setting. This is in addition to the aforementioned new character costume designs.

Marvel Rivals: Ignite #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on June 11, 2025.
