The debut season of Dandadan was met with an incredible rise in popularity, with 12 episodes. Nobody believed horror, science fiction, romance, and slice-of-life high school moments would blend this well, but Yukinobu Tatsu succeeded in it.
As much as the first season was fun and unique, it was also overwhelming. The main characters are going through a lot, and it’s only going to be more chaotic in Season 2. Dandadan featured plenty of plot twists and life-changing events, so imagine what the future holds.
Science Saru left us at a pretty intense cliffhanger for the finale, which frustrated many fans. Season 2, however, will offer resolution, more emotional moments, and a lot more lore.
Dandadan’s Season 1 Left Us in the Dark, but Will Return Even Darker
In the first season, it established the basic lore and world of Dandadan. Momo Ayase and Okarun, whose full name is Ken Takakura, are the main protagonists. They’re navigating a whole new world of ghosts, aliens, and more.
We have a recap of every event that happened in Season 1 if you need a more detailed refresher. For the second season, the most important events that you must keep in mind are the climax arc, the Cursed House Arc, and the cliffhanger. We are officially introduced to Jiji, who asks for Seiko’s help.
A lot is happening during the final scenes of Dandadan. Okarun notices a room that wasn’t there in Jiji’s house, while Momo is surrounded by men in the bathhouse and is being drowned. It ends with a visual of a hidden room filled with talismans.

Turns out, Jiji’s house is haunted by something they aren’t prepared for. If you believed Acrobatic Silky’s story was dark and depressing, the Evil Eye’s origin story is far more disturbing. He’s also a yokai that’s much harder to deal with, especially with the thirst for revenge against human beings.
Science Saru also teased the first arc through the movie, Dandadan: Evil Eye. While it did effectively prepare us, fans would have preferred if they showed all the episodes that cover it rather than leaving it at yet another cliffhanger. That seems to be a consistent flaw with the anime adaptation. An episodic format suits Dandadan way better than a movie.

Season 2 will be another visual masterpiece. The Evil Eye’s story will be adapted within the first few episodes, which might make us cry harder than Episode 7. If they put in the same effort as Acrobatic Silky’s story, it might give it some competition.
Jiji gains new powers as the Evil Eye possesses him, taking mercy and pity on the yokai. It works similarly to Okarun’s situation with Turbo Granny, although the Evil Eye is a lot more bloodthirsty and in control.

Moreover, what happens to Momo Ayase, who was getting attacked by creepy men in the bathhouse? Thankfully, a distraction hit them, and she managed to run away. Seiko, Momo’s grandmother, and Aira will also join in to help with Jiji’s situation.
New characters are introduced, one of whom will become an ally to the Family. More trouble is on the way, meaning that the Evil Eye isn’t the only antagonist of the arc. The Music Room Portraits are possibly one of the most absurd entities in Dandadan.
Then there’s Okarun and Momo’s feelings for each other. This is a slow-burn romance, so expect more development and cute moments in Season 2, but don’t have high hopes for them to begin dating. Many more hilarious, slice-of-life moments are waiting for us. Season 2 starts on 3rd July 2025.
Dandadan can currently be streamed on Crunchyroll and Netflix.
