The heroes are merely constructs to earn money, and even villains are orchestrated. In this world, romantic relationships do not always end well.

Lin Ling’s affection for Moon had won me over completely. His love and appreciation for her were heart-melting. But the illusion wasn’t up for too long because pretty soon Moon was disposed of, and her death and murderer are still mysteries.

To Be Hero X‘s new focus is Yang Cheng, who acquired the powers of E-Soul. But apart from his hero arc, fans are also focused on his romantic life. He has a huge crush on Xia Qing, but his meek and shy personality prevents him from confessing. In fact, even after Qing basically drops hint after hint that she likes him too, he just cannot gather the courage to tell her his feelings. It almost makes me want to grab Cheng and show him reason.

All that is fine, but fans need to remember what happened the last time a hero was in love. Lin Ling’s love interest, Moon, was killed off with zero mercy. A dark but realistic theory suggests that the Hero Association was behind her death, and their goal was to preserve the hero culture.

Moon’s death was faked once, but God Eye tried to reveal to the public that she wasn’t actually dead. But if another villain picked up on the scent of Moon, they would attempt to expose her again, and this time, the secret could not have remained hidden. Thus, to keep the public from questioning why Moon was still alive, she had to be killed for real. In the end, she was a loose end who had to be cut off.

Cheng has gone viral as the new E-Soul. His newfound powers have made him even more popular than the real E-Soul. Yang Cheng is now a part of the heroes who need to preserve the hero culture. And as everyone already knows, the Heroes Association is ruthless and can do anything to further their interests.

Thus, Xia Qing is now in danger due to her association with Cheng. Cheng’s popularity had already enraged the managers of the real E-Soul. He has thus become a quick target, and I had already expected Xia Qing to be the first casualty in the story. However, it was Chao who got killed instead.

The next victim could very well be Qing, who loves Cheng. The plot might show Qing getting killed by either Cheng’s adversaries or someone in the system. This would further Cheng’s development. Just like how killing off a beloved makes the protagonist stronger, the same might happen between Qing and Cheng. Qing could be targeted to make Cheng stronger as the new E-Soul.
